Default Pulled Some Codes Today....

Alright, well my truck has been idling like crap (gets better as it warms up), and the CEL has been coming on and off intermittently. I pulled the codes and this is what I came up with, if I read them correctly:

KOEO: 565
Continuous Memory: 79, 327, 332
KOER: 411, 538

Any of you gurus out there have any ideas? The truck is a '93 with the 4.9.

I'd look around for a Vac leak. Don't have the A/C on during the test. Check & clean Sensor connections & the canister purge solenoid connection. Also ground wires. I'm guessing a couple codes are from Idle surging during the test?

yeah, this is the first time i've done the engine running test, and the idle was doing some crazy stuff when i first fired it up. i'll have to take a closer look. and the AC definitely wasn't on.

#79 = A/C on during test (trucks only). Also the KOEO & KOER Tests should be done w/ engine at norm op. temp.

I'd go back to the guy you bought it from and ask him why he didn't just sell you the whole 4.9 L's! Probably just sitting in his garage, getting dusty.

Thing always get crazy around beer-thirty!
Maybe you mis-read it, or mis-wrote. There's alot more popular ones than that. I've never seen it come up before. Counting flash or Code reader?

I was counting the flash. I did it a couple times just to try and make sure, but I'm still not 100% with those damn things. I tried O'Reilly's code reader, but it kept saying it couldn't read. I think there's a shop around here that will do it for free, so maybe I'll try that next.

565= canister purge circuit failure, I wouldn't worry about that one just yet.
79=A/C or defrost on during test
327= EVP circuit below minimum voltage
332= insufficient EGR flow detected
411= cannot control rpm during KOER low RPM check
538= insufficient RPM change during KOER dynamic response test, you didn't floor the gas when the computer asked.

The others sound like an EGR problem, or a problem with the EVP or wires to it.
