Default Pulled Code 213 Engine Running

I finally got my code scanner and KOEO passed. KOER only pulled a code 213 - SPOUT Error

"Tach, circuit, SPOUT grounded. SPOUT circuit, open circuit"

Any ideas?

yeah its there and plugged in. I tested resistance and it measures about .3-.5. I read somewhere that it should read .8.

I'm going to double check the timing after work today just to make sure everything is still set where its supposed to be.

update: Double checked timing and my buddy had it set to about 28. set it back to 12 and re-ran KOER and passed with no codes. So finally I have a smooth running, no issues truck and I can concentrate on more fun stuff for it.

That's the code you get when you check the timing, and the computer needs to be reset after.

28 BTDC base time w/ the Spout out? W/ the Spout plug in place, most of your timing advance would be "all in" at idle! No ping? Something doesn't sound right.

W/ spout out showing 12 BTDC, what does timing read when the plug is in?

SPOUT out was reading 28 BTDC and SPOUT in was reading around 36 before I changed it back to 12 BTDC (SPOUT out). I didn't recheck what it read afterward with SPOUT back in. I even installed Mr Gasket Timing Tape so I could read it correctly.

the old setting would almost die at idle, but once I got going it acted like a normal engine. I never heard any ping

16 BTDC Base time seems to be the sweet spot. Go 14 BTDC at least. Stock copper cores right? If your running double platinums, leave it where it is, if that.

yep running Motorcraft copper cores. When I get a chance this weekend I'll bump my timing some more - cutting down the rest of an oak tree for firewood (next years pile) and have to check the wiring on my neighbor's trailer tonight.

I appreciate all the input guys.
