Does it show a code if faulty?

Ok, I took my truck to Hoboken, almost to nyc, and it stalled a bunch of times, but started right up, the cel came on once for about 5 sec and never came on. I will replace the hardest thing first so I dont have to deal with it later. Nothing like driving 70 mph on the new jersey turnpike and have the truck stall and come back on in the middle of a pack of NY drivers.

I'm leaning towards the TFI (ICM), although the symptoms are almost identical. You can remove the TFI & have it tested. but it is recommended that if either fail, to replace both. (if the TFI is distributor mounted rather than remotely on the fenderwell)

My tfi is remote. I will probably change them both, after I fix the flat I accumulated during the trip to Hoboken.

I was looking for helper springs I know I have in my bottomless pit called my garage, which I cant find but I found a distributor from a 90 truck, with the remote tfi, its complete but a little dirty so I am going to clean it and drop it in and see what happens.

Default PIP sensor in distributor

I recently had a similar problem with my '95 f 150 w/ 5.0. I changed the remote mounted ICM. Truck seemed to be o.k. I went out for lunch and had to get towed home. This happened twice. No, of course I didn't learn the first time I broke down ! LOL ! Then, I changed the PIP module, had to pull the distributor and disassemble it. Now, about 2 weeks later I am happy to say not one breakdown. Engine kicks right over every time. It has been said on this forum that the PIP and ICM should be changed together. Sure makes sense to me now ! Hope this helps.....Ernie
