Default Performance chips

HAs anyone used the jet performance chip for a 95 f150 with a 5.0 and would you recomend it or would you recomend another chip? what is the best bang for your buck for the chips?

I know this isn't really helping, but I have been thinking about getting a performance module for my 95 w/5.0. The confusing thing is most vendors talk about gains at WFO throttle. That's not where I do most of my wheelin'. Hope more people have some exp. with these.

I know this doesnt help either but ive been wondering whats the typical power gain u can get through a chip for gas? cause i know with diesels a programmer can change your horsepower and torgue by 100's

well most of the chips ive looked at are around 15-20 hp gain and most promise a better throttle response thats what im mainly looking for and want to know if anyone that used one did it have the affects they said and what ones the best

there are some great ones out there but instead of looking for just chips have you considered programmers tey cost a little more but some of them allow for fuel curv changes and things like shift point and alot of other things to really maximise power or maximise economy was thinking about one before i made the swap to a carb but i think i made the right choice for my use of the vehicle the only problems i have seen with chips is that they are set to one engine and they are all different and react different. also most are tuned for a stock engine so if you have any mods it can throw their advertised gains off a bit due to you already maximising flow characteristics of the engine keep searching but i think the programers are the best way to go especially since you can swap between 2 programs such as economy to get where the fun is and performance so you can jump into the fun.

I had a jetchip on my 94 ranger. Granted it was a ranger with a 4 cylinder so the horsepower is drastically different. Stock it has around 100 hp. I noticed a slight difference in horsepower after install. Not huge, but it accelerated a little better, and I also got 1 to 2 mpg better mileage. The chip was over 100 bucks though, and I don't know if I'd pay for it again. They didnt have a stage 2 for my truck, and if they dont offer any stages for your motor I wouldn't buy one. I hear super chips are more bang for the buck. However don't bother getting one unless you have modified the intake and exhaust at least. The different stages of the chips address these mods. The chip reprograms the computer to account for mods like this, and without them you see very little gain with the chip alone.

I'm working on doing some custom prom's for the f150(v8 and I6)...I will keep you posted on how things go.

I will add that I've tuned another car I have to run 10.50's on motor and still gets 19.7mpg on the highway.

this is my 3rd 5.0 and it has a rv cam, no delay in response and lots of power. twice the bang for the same buck
