Default Noise

Everytime I go over a bump of anykind and at any speed, I get this rattling/banging type noise from the front end of my rig. Anyone have any sort of idea what it may be? Thanks

It may be the radius arm bushings. I just replaced mine on a '95, it was a bear but doable. Is the noise like a clunk under the floor board? check that bushing back there and see if it is worn or cracked, does it look like there's a lot of play? This maybe the answer your looking for. Good luck.

Yeah, I would classify it as a clunk, bang, rattle. I will check it out this weekend. Thanks

When my truck did that I was also the radius arm bushings, The driver side is a pain in the ***, but the passenger side is not bad you just take the bracket off.

My dash is cracked around one of the mounting screws, makes a bad sound when I hit bumps.

Looked at the radius arm bushings and they looked good. Nothing cracked or damaged. I will find out Monday, it is going in to the shop.

Also check the lower shock bushings. If the shock is loose in the lower mount, it will rattle, make sure the shock is tight in the bracket, drove me nuts till I figured it out.

when mine, and a friends, did that it was the transmission bolts, the ones that bolt the rear of the tranny to the tranny brace. by the way, when he took his truck in to get the problem checked they told him it was ball joints. he found out after he replaced the ball joints, and still had the problem, what it really was. then he checked my tranny bolts and sure enough they were loose.

Well I got the damage today. The U-joint was bad and needed to be replaced. Ball joint on the right side had 3/4 of an inch of play and I had them replace that. Thanks to everyone who responded. Haven't had to put a lot into the truck besides the usual maintenance, so I am happy it is getting fixed and back on the road.
