ok soo i bought my 1995 f150 around 3 weeks ago needing a trans it only had reverse soo i pulled that and and got one from the local junk yard good fluid very clean inside i swaped them i changed the filter put it all back and still only reverse i drained the transfer case and found no fluid just pure clean water and shaving and when the transfer case is in neutral the front out put shaft is locked and tries spinning the rear could that be my problem? its a 4r70w btw

Looks like you may have swapped the Trans for nothing.
Throw a junkyard t case on it.

 

what would be involved in swapping the push button tcase for a manual shift? i have a spare

 

Just bolt it in and remove the plate from the floor and install the manual shift lever.

If water and metal shavings came out of your t.case then its toast.
