Get it inspected and let them know you need a title. I'm sure there's more to it then that but that's all I know

What does bad title mean? The VIN's don't match or what?
Just about every state has a DMV web site where you can find title and reg instructions, download forms etc.

You don't, the best thing now is to build the hell out off it make it a full blown trailer rig with 5 ton rockwells and 72" tractor tires. I'd shoot for 2300 whp.

In all seriousness try and see what you can do with the dmv as to getting it expected or having a new title made.

Down here you can just go to a title company....explain the situation to them and they will put a mechanics lein on the title to your truck so that you can get it swapped into your name...it also keeps the previous owner from just calling the police and showing up to remove the truck from your possesion

I got f****d just like that on a car, they showed up as soon as I had the car fixed and running, I never checked the vin between the car and title, cause I knew the people,
guy sold my truck to buy drugs after trading his brother in laws car and his cars title. His brother and law got his car fixed, and I got crap, and Mounties.

My title was an out of state title that had never been transferred and it was in the previous previous owners name. For retitling into my name ,I had 2 choices, contact the previous previous owner and get a letter. Or buy what's called a "Surety Bond", I choose the bond which is basically an insurance policy in case someone comes along and says "hey that truck is mine". It protects everyone involved. The cost of the bond was about $120. Once I had this it was a matter of minutes and $$ at the DMV.

You should check with the MO Dept of Revenue to get the absolute correct answer on this question. There most likely will be many other documents needed as well.

oh you have to be careful doing that. had a car in Florida that i needed something like that and was good friends with the owner of a repair shop, and he explained to me that its a long and painful process that if the state proved he didn't do any work to it he would go to jail. and if there was some other lien on it he would really get screwed. so i ended up scrapping the car.

according to my friend there were some title agencies and shops doing that scam to re-title stolen cars. so Florida cracked down on it. not saying its not a viable option just be careful and have all your ducks in a row if you go that route.

I guess the laws are different in texas...I bouught a couple cars from shops with mechanic leins on them....no problems...and I bought one with no title from someone I knew and put a lien on it myself for the amount I had it the car so if there where any questions I wouldn't get burnt for the cash I had in it....but buying from crack heads and dealers or whatever I don't know about that. That's kinda common sense,

Actually. I got burned by a pill freak, didn't know until it was to late.Main lesson, at least check the title against the vin on the dash and door.
