EEC - your trucks computer

SPOUT connector - under the hood by the Thick Film Ignition module, the thing you unplug to set base timing

IDM - Ignition Diagnostic Monitor

I've seen this code when the PIP's pooched and grounding to the Dist housing. The signal never makes it to the EEC (or ECU or PCM or computer).

thats what i said i bet it's the PIP cause i've always heard ymeski preachin if you have to replace one replace the other. because it has the exact same symptoms but a little worse. doesn't run fine after it cools down now just won't start. suppose i'll wait for this rain to clear pull it off and have it tested

I think you just did test it! You can't just pull it off, it's in the distributor. You can replace the Dist. w/ it in it. Or just replace the PIP sensor, but either way the Dist. has to be removed. Pip's are about $12.
