Yes, the TFI.
The PIP tells on itself but as he said, the TFI module won''t.

Thin Film Ignition Module (TFI). No idea why. Yes, plugs into outside of Dist. (unless your's is remotely mounted on the engine compartment fenderwell) Happy B-day! Did you know that on this day in...............Crap! I forgot! ........How about if I make up something 1/2 believable as to why they call it a thin film thingy? How about this. Don't forget , they'll test yours at the parts store for you, before you buy a new one!

so i went to my truck today.. forgot my haynes manual. didn't see any sensor attached to the outside of the distributor only the one on the inside (guessin thats the pip) anyways i got tired of drivin back and forth and had a buddy with me so i drove it as far is it would run and then pulled it the rest of the way with the van... anyways i just realized you said it may be mounted on the fenderwell, whereabout would it be mounted and what does it look like? i've got it here with me now so it makes things alot easier. its a 95 by the way

Boy, your really pushin this "It's my birthday" thing! Here's your TFI/ICM, Spout connector, Diagnostic connector, timing marks & more! Even a "blue" distributor, cap & rotor! Anything else while I'm here? I think I have a link for an ICBM, never used but needs some work! Will deliver overnight, anywhere in the continenal U.S. (I think, my russian's a little rusty) The TFI/ICM is black, by the way.http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=71
