Is this your first 4x4? That's what they do.

If its doing it when you turn either direction till the wheel stops that is normal, that is just the U joints at their furthest point of flex. My 89 does the same. Those trucks are actually not meant to be driven on dry pavement in 4x4. Read your owners manual, it will tell you that.

when you are turning in 4x4 all your wheels are turning at the same speed, however your inside wheels have less distance to travel then your outside wheels. this causes one side or the other to skip around the corner (usually the outside if I remember correctly) it is less noticeable on dirt or in mud because the ground is looser and allows the wheels to spin, pavement wont move so your tire skips. there is no need to use 4x4 on dry pavement, and you will wear your tires and u joints out fast if you keep doing so. and even off road your shouldn't be doing hard turning in 4x4.

There are 3, one one on drivers side and two on passenger side. But if they are original they arent greasable. If they are clicking or making a popping noise you might have a uv joint going bad. they often go bad since most dont engage 4x4 enough to let the front end grease like it should. Dont engage 4x4 on dry pavement. Ice, dirt road or etc is fine. Please put some effort in trying to help yourself though, its not that hard to figure out. We are all here to help but not if your not going to help yourself its useless. Get a Haynes manual, it will explain 95% of your questions.
