Usually this one. Sometimes it's just a question of timing (Pun intended)! Occasionally, life rear's it's ugly head & we're not online. I've been in ICU for a friend w/ his wife for most of this week.

Lots of helpful members here, but all Forum's have ebbs & flows in it's member participation.

I was joking with you. As Ymeski said, sometimes we are occupied. A little bump will bring it back up to peoples attention, which you could have done without whining about how we aren't helpful. I didn't help because I'm more about fixing than modifying, sort of.

I believe one of the major issues with the 5.8 is the spark plugs. I am not sure about the year range, but they had 2 piece plugs that tend to freeze in the head and break at the joint. There are replacements available that have a longer metal slave to prevent breaking. Also the plug holes tend to have short treads in aluminum wich cause binding and thread failure. The later coil on plug models have been known to shoot plugs through the hood. Proper maintenance and anti-seize will help and there are heli-coil type kits to insert hardened seats for the plugs. Perhaps someone can verify the model years of this problem for me?

i have a 99 GT with a 4.6 and my plugs blew outta the heads on it. everywhere i researched said it was from ford rushing to put out the new PI heads and intake the heads only had about 1/4 turn of threads in them.

Untrue. Thats only on the 5.4's and 4.6's i believe. I know for a fact the 5.8 has no problems, except there are two that are hard to get to. Im not real impressed with fords placement of the oil filter either.

Thanks 954x4 like I said wasn't sure of the engine or years, 5.0 are my speciality. BTW the 4.6 may have that spark plug issue as well but the lower assembly is a nice piece of machinery. Now I want to get my hands on that new 5.0

Im happy with my 5.8. Ill stick with it. All these new engines have so much electronics you cant even look at it without it throwing a code and doing something stupid.
