Question K & n filter question

can anyone give me some information on k&n air filters. I recently purchased a 1995 f150 flareside extended cab. It has 57,000 mi on it with a 351 in it. Does anyone out there have the same truck with a k&n air filter in it. If so, does it actualy make a difference? If so how? Thanks to anyone who helps..........

i put a k&n on a few cars, makes the engine louder (nice tone) and gives better take off. not sure about gas milage. check out Spectre air filters, just like KN but half the price.

I've got a CAI on my 94 302. not overly impressed with it. The filter seems to get dirty pretty fast with it out in the open. I get 8 mpg with my 35's so I don't think it really makes a huge difference with gas mileage...

I'm new so I'm sorry but when your talking about k&n drop in air filters are you talking about the factory square one or the aftermarket round style

The drop in is square. I have one in my truck... not a lot of difference
but like the fact that I don't have to replace it for a long time if ever.

It wont help your gas mileage unless you put a chip in it to adjust for the extra air coming in. an exhaust system of some sort will help even out the pressure as well. Then you should be ok.

I have a 96 F150 4x4 with the 351C. I installed a K&N drop in filter, the one that replaces the stock filter. I have noticed a small increase in power when accelerating hard. I can also hear the air sucking into the intake louder than with a Fram/Motorcraft filter. I am not sure if it helped my mpg's, I am getting 18mpg highway and 13 city on 31's.

I'll guess a well maintained engine to start with.
