Default just bought a useless socket

Went to the parts store to start the front end teardown on my 93. Got to the spindle nut, put the socket in, and it doesn't fit. It had four teeth but only one would go in and all the others were off just enough they wouldn't go in... any advice? I don't want to go to a different store and buy another tool to have it do the same thing, unless that one tool has a manufacturer defect.

Well it turns out only manual hubs use a 2 3/8" socket with the grooves and newer autos use 2 1/4"... got the correct one and got everything apart. I did not know each side has 2 spindle nuts.

Haha my dad used to race off road in a trophy truck of all vehicles and they (the rest of the team) were terrible at doing everything the right way. They have yet to finish not last in any race if they finished at all. I'm very a**l about doing it all the right way, hence why I just spent $400 in tools and parts to fix my truck. However I'd love to get my hubs but I don't want to break into my safety net while I'm jobless even if I do start another in a week.

Just another rambling real quick but I also grabbed some ignition tune up stuff while I was at the store and when I pulled my plugs, they looked great. No oil at all and it doesn't run rich or lean at all... the amazing part, this is a bone stock (not rebuilt) engine with over 208000 miles. one valve cover gasket is broken but it's been four months since my oil change and it hasn't leaked enough to make a difference on the dipstick. I'm just so surprised I only payed $950 for it

I had the same issue. I picked up the socket claiming it was for 1986 and newer f-150 and bronco's. Went to use it on my 86 bronco with no luck, i am returning to today. Guess i should as if they have the 2 1/4" one.

I'm having non stop problems with this stupid project. The only way we have to get the ball joints out is at my brothers work. I went to put everything back together and the upper ball joint nut cross threads without being crossed.
