Default Ignition trouble!

my 89' f150 5.8 has gone crazy, the truck ignition has to be in a certain position for any accesories to work..it trips up the solenoin and constantly cranks over until i pull the battery terminals..anyone had this issues before? and what resolved it?
Thanks

Might be bad ignition switch the one on the bottom of the column, not the key, or it is loose and needs to be tightened and adjusted.

Install all three of these and your problem will be solved.

Ensure the new Positive Battery Cable is a 2 AWG or 2 Gauge cable.

The Solenoid is only $20. bucks.

If the Starter continued to spin after the engine was idling;
replacing the Solenoid along with a new 2 AWG Positive Battery Cable solves the problem.

DO NOT BUY and INSTALL the SAME SIZE CABLE that came on your truck,
it's a 4 AWG positive Battery cable and for some unknown reason it is too small diameter now for our 20+ year old Ford trucks!

I think; it all leads back to the Starter and it is about to go out,
but installing the 2 gauge Positive Cable will buy you some time before it does.
If you do not install a larger diameter (2 Gauge) Positive Cable, your new Solenoid will do the same thing again.

I replaced 5 Solenoids before I installed the larger 2 AWG positive cable on my truck,
two the same day!

Another F-150 Forum Member; JCMS replaced 7 Solenoids before He installed a larger positive cable.

Let us know.
