Went to start my 88 with tilt wheel. And the key will stop where it's supposed to, but won't register past run. Some linkage has to be broken inside because I can start the truck by pushing the rod with a pair of pliers. Any ideas?

 

those years are known for that problem. my dad replaced the ignition twice on his F-250 and it still broke again so he gave up and left a vise grip in there to start it

 

Lol that's actually my set up right now. I'd like to fix it though

Push button start seems like an option that would solve the breaking issues.
