Default How do I replace the window motor?

The driverside window took a crap on me yesterday. Im assuming its the motor, though when I pull the door panel off I have no idea how to get the motor out. I see the 2 dimples that might need to be drilled out to get to bolts behind it, other than that

Do I need to remove the glass?
If so, how do I do this?

Yeah you'll have to remove the glass, though i never replaced the motor.

Replaced the windows on my 88, not sure if it applies to your truck but whati did was that i lowered the window completely but that might not be possible if the motor is broken?, removed the vent window along with its frame, one screw is behind the door panel and then there are a couple at the "front side" of the door under the door rubber/weather strip, tilt it backwards and pivot and jiggle it out. Then you raise the window like halfway or something and tilt it backwards and slide the window forward and lift it straight up.

Ah Ill try that tomorrow, the window is stuck rolled completely down and I cant pull it up if I try. How does the bar that raises the window up and down connect to the bottom of the window? I cant see it very well

How does the window come out of the frame it slides up and down in? Do I need to drill out the rivet at the top?

most trucks 87 through 96. take off door panel. take off plastic if there is any. the motor is by the speaker. theres three screws in a triangle (top, left and right). the right one sucks to get out unless you have an 8mm ratcheting wrench. the other two top and left screws, youll need a drill for. just a hair bigger than a than an 8mm deepwell. since the bolts are triangle shape you know where they are. theres two little indentions you drill out and those are the other two screws. unbolt it turn at a 180 degree turn. and pull the electrical connector off. once you get it out theres one screw holding on the plate on the motor. if you take that off the peice that normally goes out is in there. its called a window gear kit and there 15 bucks. if i missed anything let me know.

Do you have vent windows? Because if you do its not as hard as it sounds I replaced both in my 88 bronco what you have to do is roll the window down remove the vent windows and weatherstripping, then pull the window up. After that you will see a track on the bottom of the window with a small plastic bushing on the actuator arm slide the plastic bushing off and pull out the glass. After this is accomplished getting to the window motor and removing it is a breeze. And when finished reinstall the reverse of uninstall. Oh and lastly if you take your time and dont lose patience (like I have a tendency of lmao) then this job takes about an hour.
