well i think i figured out the problem. When putting the transmission in my friend that i had help me who works on a lot of trucks. Told me to bolt the torque converter to flywheel then put the trans up in to that. Bolt it to the engine and its the same as putting it up there all together. Not sure its the first trans i have ever done with out taking the whole engine out as well. Just wondered if i am right it all needs to be put in at once or dose it not matter?

Your friend is absolutely retarded. Thank him for destroying your transmission. Unless you're extremely EXTREMELY lucky you crushed the transmission pump installing it like that. Transmission is installed with the torque converter installed into it so you can engage the shafts and pump.

Now relizing that the way I was doing it before he stoped to "help". Was right and he could care less I'm going to take it all out tomorrow and see what's if I can fix it. Is there a special way the torque converter hooks in to the trans that I need to know about?? Not ever doing this on a truck with the motor still in sucks. Can I slide the trans back away from the motor enough with it still under the truck to do what I need maybe?? Just makes his responce **** me off that much more oh guess my bow tie is still running laps around you ford. Makes me wounder if it wasn't what he ment to do. He hates my truck because it never gets stuck when we go fishing or trail riding

Yes the converter goes in a special way. That's why it goes into the tranny first. You have to engage the shafts and pump. Measure the distance the flywheel sticks out off the block, the converter should be deeper than that into the tranny.

You're going to need a different tranny most likely, or have that one fixed.

It is no different than doing it out of the truck, it all goes together the same way.

He's your "friend"? I'd hate to see how your enemy's treat you! This isn't a Ford/ Chevy thing. Your friend has obviously stopped going to his "Azzhole's Anonymous" meetings.

By my age, we've weeded em all out. Then, the only way you loose your "real" friends you have left, is the grim reaper.
