Default Fuse Problem

So yesterday my ABS light started flashing when I was driving, so I checked the fuse and it was blown. Today I replaced the 15amp fuse with a new 15amp fuse and within 5 minutes of driving the brand new 15amp fuse was blown. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Then today when I was driving th brake light came on. At first I thought it was the parking brake, so I pushed the parking brake all the way down and the brake light just got even brighter. Then I pulled the brake release and the brake light dimmed back down, but it is still glowing red. If the master cylinder was low on fluid would that signal the brake light to come on? If so should I just add more fluid or have a qualified tech look at it?

Thanks
Bubba

What year of truck are we talking about?

Automatic of standard?

Is it the parking brake light on your dash you are talking about?

Oh sorry, forgot specifacs. It is a 1995 F150, automatic. I'm talking about the red "Brake" light and "ABS" light that are on the instrument panel.

Well, the abs fuse problem sounds like either a bad abs module, or some faulty wiring. Try another fuse and see what happens.

The red light would probably be as a result of low brake fluid is low, and if so add some more. However, if you aren't confident about your brakes, it never hurts to see a qualified tech.

Brakes are the most important system on your vehicle, getting going 60km/h isn't so great if you cant stop.

Well I just got new brakes within the last 2 months so I would think they are good, but I'll add some fluid and see what happens.

new brake pads/shoes don't mean that there couldn't be a leak in one of the cylinders of calipers. Its a possibility they could be leaking.

The brake light could also come on if the wires to the rear lights were broken or shorted out.

No, the brake warning light has nothing to do with the brake lights.

The brake warning light will come on if air is in the system, if the fluid is low, or if the parking brake is set. The ABS light also comes on with the brake light, when there's a problem with the brake system the ABS is disabled and the ABS light comes on. Not sure why the fuse would keep blowing though, except for a shorted wire.

Well the ABS light is flashing (on and off) and when I chekced my manuel it said it flashes when the fuse is blown, so I think thats the only reason its flashing, but I don't know why the fuse is blowing.

Go here www.fordfuelinjection.com to learn how to pull the codes with a paperclip. It's also a possibility that the VSS on the rearend is crap too.
