Post Fuel Pump access

I was wondering if anyone has a idea to this problem.
I really don't want to take my fuel tanks down for the 3rd time. I want to cut a hole big enough to get the pump out if needed. How do I keep that peice of metal to go back into the truck without falling off. I was thinking of having one end hinged and put two small peices to prevent it from dropping. Or is there a kit that anyone knows that will do this?

Well, cutting the hole while the gas tank is under there really isn't a good idea. So you would still have to drop the tank one more time.

Heck, I can cut it with a die grinder. I just have to figure out how to make it hinged and then not fall. Keep it flush as possible. I'm not caring to much about water leaks. I have no bed liner or cover for the truck. Water leaves when I hit the gas.

the exposed edges of the metal will rust fast. paint it before you reinstall, your hinge idea could work, got a welder?

Get a patch panel or piece of another bed larger than the size of the hole.
