Default Fuel Filter Problems

ok so previous owner has bugered up the front part of my fuel filter fiting and i cant get it off and i assume its the stock filter

ive got a whole line froma 93 but it didnt come off an extended cab
will it be the same for my 92 extended cab?
if not what can i do ,,i feel like its thirsting for fuel and i kno that filter is stoped up

I don't think it will be the same, but you can size it up to check.

can i just cut mine and put a piece of hose in place with the new filter

Are you using a retainer spring release tool?

As said size it up, but it should. The extended part of the cab is in the rear of the cab, obviously, so the longer line should be the rear. Mine was the same way. Once I finally pried it apart, I was able to remove the spring clips and straighten them out and reinstall it. And yes I was using the craftsman fuel line tool.

yes ive got the tool its just wnt go its looks like sum1 has ut pliers on it

No, the lines are not the same length. I have a 92 ext cab and the filter is between the front tank and the frame rail. the font line should be the longer one.

You can just cut the 2 ends of the filter off (the tubes that connect to the line) and use a small flathead screwdriver to pry the clips loose. Thats what i had to do to mine. A pack of new clips is pretty cheap at autozone, i got a pack of 3 for less than $5.

If your that desperate, Buy an O-ring pick, remove & replace the springs as mentioned.
