Default F150 frame

Hey guys, I'm wondering if the frames are the same on the f150's from 1987-1996? I have an 1988 and am having a hard time locating parts/donor truck that is a 1992 or older so I am just wondering if the frames are the same on all the O.B.S f150's or not.
Thanks for your help.

everything is the same from 1980-1996
EXCEPT***
1992-1996 have accordion frame horns on the front for crash protection.

the whole truck will bolt right on EXCEPT the front bumper, you'll have to make custom brackets to fit the different year bumpers.

That reminds me.....I'm still trying to find an army to help me pull my front bumper waiting on me at the salvage yard. Lol

This truck has a boxed frame. He really beefed it up for the front and rear bumpers. I'd need the 460 to pull these bumpers around.

What about f250s? I've heard they are the same other than most being long beds, but I would think the entire frame would be a box frame on a 250, not just up front the c channels back.

I'm not sure any of our year models were factory boxed. I remember seeing some info about Dodge having the first boxed frame and that was only 8 or 9 years ago. May have been bad info. Might google f-250 frame pics and see if you find any 80-96's. Just did the google search. Looks like Ford has laways used -channel frame on the 150 and 250.

nope they are the same, only difference is the engine cross member is bigger on the f250/350, they have never been boxed past the front.

some will argue that the metal thickness is different but i've never had one that was different. and i've owned about 9 of these things from an f100/f350, 4x4's and 2wds

Could've sworn my dads 98 dodge ram cummins was a box frame, could be wrong never really looked specifically for that. I'll go crawl under it.

So, what makes them heavier and more capable to tow and handle the weight verse my 5.8 f150? A little longer, bigger axle, different gear ratio and leaf springs and brakes, what else. My tranny is the same, engine the same as some but they can't tow much more anyway. So make the little 351 a torque monster and add some leads, and it would tow like a 250? Other than breaks. I would think the 8.8 can handle a decent amount.

the suspensions and drivetrains. the 5.8, 5.0 and 4.9l are the same in the 250s and 350s but they still aint rated much higher weight compared to a truck with the 7.3 or 7.5.

also the 250 and 350s do have slightly different frame horns for leaf packs.
