explorer motor???
when i first read this, i was rolling my eyes and about to throw the BS flag... then i realized you are in Cali... i know they do some strange thing for Cali cars. i have never seen a roller camed f-150 pre-95, but it was probably a Cali thing.
that a very good write up! but, my truck is just coalmine transportation, im looking for longevity, but it WILL be getting abused on a daily basis.
i dropped $180.00 at autozone last night on all new outer gaskets, rear main seal, timing set, oil pump, ect to make sure it will last a long time but, i put all the "extra" cash into my mustang.

and that is the point i was making, just because a 5.0 has the H.O./windsor firing order, doesnt mean it is an H.O. motor... all the roller cammed motors ive seen have that firing order, except yours... ive NEVER seen a pre-95 f-150 with a roller cam installed from the factory! it doesnt even show up as an option in the parts store's websites when looking up a cam for that truck.
My 94' F150 5.0L has a roller cam, and it's H.O. and it's MAF. I think the thing we're missing here is, if the vehicle came with California Emissions, like mine did. (Plus, MAF was only on automatic 94's. There are many pieces to the puzzle, friends)
My truck was orignially sold in Delaware, even in Maryland we only sell vehicles with California Emissions
Hate to start this argument up again but,
