Default explorer motor???

will it work with my 1990 f-150 efi? or will i have to change cams to a non H.O./windsor cam to get the firing order right? i guess what im asking is... is the H.O./windsor firing order compatable with the order the f-150 fires the injectors? is the f-150 "batch fire" or is it "sequential".

Your going to use the ECU & harnesses from the explorer aren't you? Here's the truck ECU's w/ pinout legends:http://fordfuelinjection.com/truckpinouts.html

explorer motors are H.O. ? ... truck weighs more then an exploder... wouldnt make more sense to put a H.O. in the heavier vehicle ? jus a thought/question

i dont think ex motors are considered h.o., but they DO have the h.o./windsor firing order.

actually ive been doing some research on firing orders on different vehicles and have found that every roller motor ive checked on has the H.O./windsor firing order.

Do you mean "roller cam"? My stock 87' 302 is roller cam & non-HO fireing order. This is HO: http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=23 F-150's w/o MAF are Bank fired. W/ MAF are sequentially fired injection. HO's usually have a more aggressive timing curve. Can't think of a reason that would be a bad thing in an F-150. Maybe the MAF/non-MAF thing it what's throwing you off. Maybe the fireing order changes when the switch to MAF occures.

ive been checking the autozone website in the repair info section to get the firing orders for specific vehicles, and found that some NON-H.O. motors that are roller cammed have the windsor/H.O. firing order such as this example, 1996 f-150 5.0 4x4 which shouldnt be an H.O. motor...

But it is a MAF engine w/ seq. fired injection, not MAP/ bank fired! I think for non-HO's, the firing order changes when they are Seq. fired injection.

and that is the point i was making, just because a 5.0 has the H.O./windsor firing order, doesnt mean it is an H.O. motor... all the roller cammed motors ive seen have that firing order, except yours... ive NEVER seen a pre-95 f-150 with a roller cam installed from the factory! it doesnt even show up as an option in the parts store's websites when looking up a cam for that truck.
