hello,

my first post i have 89 4.9 5sp 189k bought the truck bout month ago for a grand only ran for 15 min befor dying. needed a relay and a lp pump. to be safe ( i get ford discount)i went ahead did the plugs wires cap rotor fuel filter .... drove the truck about a week and started poping in exhuast a little at first then once warms all way up engine misses bad . replaced coil with knwn good one same with tfi still there. injectors r all working when its missing . the miss comes and goes to it will do it for a couple seconds then goes away then comes back. o and wen i connect a scanner it will do the koeo and koer tests but wont give any codes syas theres no connection . i work at a dealer and the 20 yr drivibility tech i work with is stumped as well . im a trans guy im lost

My 4.9 truck #1 plug wire would jump spark to the bracket that surrounds it, and my #6 plug comes loose all the time.

 

tried jumper like you said nothin happen light just came on and stayed on ... truck dont start at all now ... tested tfi its fine ... still lost

i double checked and the engine light stayes one and the check engine like stays off ... if that means anything

 

Does the check engine light come on when you turn on the key? The engine light is unimportant right now.

 

nope does not come on with the key on but if i take the pcm relay out it comes on

 

Sounds like a fried computer.

 

weird so even when it did run the computer was still bad just not enough to totaly kill it... knw how much they r
