Default Engine fire

Well my truck had an engine fire kinda.. We got the Ac Workin took all day. Got home last night (my cousin) said lets ride off. So we decided with all this rain wvev had let's go mud boggin so we did. Leavin the woods he was like what's that light. What light I said. He said I think the trucks on fire... Engine stalled
Pop the hood a shop rag is laying on the exhaust in flames. Put it out and started Diagnosing the new found problems. Melted about 4-5 vac lines. Wouldnt idle melted a plug wire and and another mysteriously came unhooked. Limped home on 6 cylinders (5 mi)
Got it to kinda run went to work today. Went to the junk yard and replaced the melted vac lines and plug wire and now runs great melted the lines to the map, vac canister, egr, and 1 other. Replaced them all though.

So now the only apparent problem is my vent selector on the Ac only does the defroster regardless of witch setting is selected. Any help is appreciated.

I'd guess you missed the vaccuum line for the vent selector. I think it's the vent selector at least.

Definitely the vacuum line. If its lost pressure, connect it up again, and start the truck. Should be solved. I ripped I line off once by accident, caught it, and plugged it up, but all out of the defrost on battery, had to start the truck to get the pressure back then it worked. I believe the defrost it the trucks default when the vacuum line is disconnected.

Yes defrost is default so you can at least see where you're going.

On mine the plastic line entering the firewall is taped in the electrical harness.

Ok I have some pics. This is for a 93 5.0, 2-wheel drive. I peeled a little of the wrap so you could see. The line going to the defrost thing is white and goes into the firewall. You hopefully can see the little bit of white left going to the defrost door vacuum solenoid or whatever that's called. And the rest which starts after the rubber hose splice near the yellow tape to the left of bundle going to firewall.

On the side coming from egr is the green line which goes to meet the red and black from coffee can and around engine to those solenoids that I also show which is by the ignition coil. Hope these help.

Edit to add a couple of the vacuum tree:

The red from the canister splits into two red lines. One goes to the driver side of the motor as you have in the picture. Where should the other side of the split go?
