egr question
my truck seems to bvuck bad at 1500 rpm in any gear so i unplug the egr and it runs good, i know is ddoes this for like fuel econmy mode or something i heard about that. i just hate the fact that it does it when im in town driving. i know i can make a plate for the egr valve to limit the air ammount but what can i do so it ill turn c/e light off when i dont want to use the egr?
How about running Error code scans, Fuel pressure test, & just fix the problem. You may find out it's not actually the EGR, but disconnecting it just relieves the symptom. No smog tests in Wis.?

Just leave it on there then, although it would be better if it worked. The computer will still control the EGR and see it move with the EVP but there will be no exhaust to flow through it.
bucking is more of a MAP issue... EGR will make it run more roughly...like its very lean which it is...
sounds like if it was EGR that the sensor might be not correct and opening the EGR early or too much...
You don't have to agree, but I'm usually relieved when you do! Kinda like waiting for the other shoe to drop!

i had replace the map sensor once in October and like a couple weeks later it threw a code so i threw the stock one back on and it ran fine. like i said i think it could be the egr cause on the other website i read about other people having the same problem and they just built that plate for in between the egr and intake.
Gotta disagree a little bit here. Bucking will also happen in a lean condition if under load, like moderate acceleration from a stop, climbing a hill, etc. One of the first symptoms of a dirty MAF is bucking under load. If his EGR is stuck all the way open, I could imagine it causing a bucking issue (in addition to a very erratic, choppy idle, as you mention), although I doubt just unplugging the connector would fix anything in that scenario.
