egr hell!!!!!
Truck also idles a bit rough... don't know if this helps or not.. and one other thing I'll throw at y'all last week I was messing around and noticed the hose comming off my smog pump was leaking so I replaced it in hopes that was my problem but it only seemed to make the miss worse... could it be the truck is getting more air than fuel?

Well when the air pump and ear works right the egts in the cats will increase,so if their plugged off it will be worse,it might be loud as hell but disconnect the y pipe from the manifolds and see if it idles better and the miss goes away,or a exhaust shop can test or check them too,u can have some one area the motor and u can feel at the exhaust tip for amount of flow and to listen for rattles and feel the cats for vibration,
Have u tried replacing the ecm,(computer)they do fail, their not much from a wrecking yard ,have u taken in in to a ford dealership, they can hook a computer up that will monitor every thing in real time as it happens...I would try that,I have no more ideas of what could be causing this.....its probably something dumb too
^ I second this. Were still shooting blind. It might be time to take it to a good shop that can run all the diagnostic tests I mentioned. All those readings need to be put together to make an accurate picture of what is wrong.
Hey biggreen. We just had the motor rebuilt, added headers. Couldn't run the exhaust back to the bottom of EGR without cutting into the headers! Just hooked everything back up. This truck is 1993 F150 4x4 with 351 cu. windsor. Couldn't figure out the miss, stumble from idle to just open throttle. It would stumble or die! Changer everything possible! Took it to auto shop MiraCosta College. Just about gave up! They disconnected the wire @ EGR connection. This fixed it, runs great! no more stumble or die. It will still through check engine code. but runs fine. Or I have to cut into the headers, no way!
