Replaced egr..egr position sen....and vac solenoid.. it's like it's starving for fuel when the egr opens at low rpm... so I'm thinkin maybe some injectors are clogged ? Maybe ? Thoughts ?

Check the vacuum at the fuel reg before and when the egr opens, sounds like its pulling fuel pressure away from the motor, and it could be that the cats are clogging up and when the egr opens it rises the egt enough to mess with the backpressures, its a far reach but sounds like u have checked every thing else out

OK let's bring this back to focus again. As I recall it runs smooth with the EGR disconnected but when the vacuum is connected it looses power at around 2k. Is that about it? No codes except for the knock sensor code. It should be very helpful if you could get a reader and access the fuel trim and O2 sensor readings to see if its actually lean or not. We are kinda shooting blind at fixing a symptom without knowing the cause.

I wouldn't think a basic reader could retrieve that info on an OBD I.

No you need one that plugs into the diagnostic port and reads the fuel trim. They are kinda hard to find for OBDI

Wouldn't really help here then, right? Since he should be OBD I.

I would recommend starting from a blank slate. Disconnect your battery for a few minutes to reset your computer, then hook it back up. Make sure everything is connected, including the egr, and go for a short drive. What is it like 5 miles for the computer to "re-learn" everything? After that re-run KOEO and KOER test procedures. We'll work from there.
