Default Dummy switch help

I want to install a dummy switch in my truck as you don't need a key to turn the ignition. I am having a hard time figuring out which wire to interupt, I want to put the switch on any wire that will stop the truck from starting.

96 f150 4x4 5.0 auto.

It's cheap and easy enough just to replace the ignition cylinder.

He wants to put in a switch like under the dash that if you do not flip it the truck will not start. He did not say his ignition was bad. They used to do this all the time back in the '50s and '60s. Easy way to prevent theft of the vehicle.

dummy switches are not to safe for your daily driver or if you park on the street to even a dummy can steal your truck. I have a kill switch in my truck even if you turn the key it wont do anything

Just need to know which wire to use for the "dumb kill" switch.... he he. I would hate to see my $375 truck stolen, I couldn't put a monetary value on the replacement cost..... might say it's priceless?

it must be a regional thing up in Maine dummy switches are the ones where you push and it starts with no key. Kill switches are what the name says it kills the truck as soon as i get my truck back i can tell you what i spliced into mine. as mounting points go under the dash has been done to death pick a real nice secret spot for it

And Advance Auto has the part for $13-17. Cheap and easy. Learn to do it once, and it won't take two min to remove it if you ever have to again.

Red/light blue from the ignition switch is that starting circuit.
