Default CSS on 89' F150

Hey guys, first of all thanks for everyone's help. It is in fact the CSS on my truck. Jumped the the two wires and it fired right up.
This switch is actually to the right of the the steering column and just to the left of the gas pedal on the clutch master cylinder right where str8dogg said. Very weird set up I must say.

Thanks again to everyone for your help and Happy Holidays.

Glad to hear you got things sorted out. Thanks for the feedback - provides closure for those of us who were really pulling for ya.

Hope that you and yours have a very Merry Christmas also.

That's great! Do you plan to leave it bypassed, or replacing the CSS?

And what about the other thing that you first suspected? Is that part of the cruise control setup? Is your cruise factory or add-on? The factory cruise has buttons on the steering wheel.

...I guess you have it starting again - maybe best to leave well enough alone!

Great to hear it. I finally got everything connected on my truck today. I bled the master cylinder, pressed the clutch to get her started and.......nothing happend. After replacing my cylinder and connecting my CSS, it wasn't attached to the push rod securely and therefore not making connection. I finally got her straight and she is running like a kitten...purring along. I will get her out on the road a little tomorrow and see if she missed me. Glad to help and you have a blessed holiday.

I wouldn't mind just bypassing it but I swear that I have read in a couple of different places that bypassing will wear the starter out faster. Yes, the switch that I first suspected is a part of the cruise control system. It's there to disengage the cruise when you use the clutch pedal. I never use the cruise system and I have never seen anything like that in a vehicle but, a Ford dealership said that it is factory installed and not aftermarket. Weird I know.

Awesome to hear. As soon as I got mine started, I let her warm up a bit, and went out and drove for about an hour. Drove like she always does, perfect. Fuel system is the next thing on my list of repairs. Hopefully it won't be as "dramatic" lol.
Thanks again and you have a blessed Holiday season as well.

Nah, bypassing the switch won't wear out the starter faster unless you crank the truck in gear. The main problem with bypassing the switch is that the computer receives a signal from that switch telling it when the clutch pedal is pressed in.

Thanks for straightening out that info on the starter.
"The main problem with bypassing the switch is that the computer receives a signal from that switch telling it when the clutch pedal is pressed in."
Just out of curiosity, is it damaging to the computer to bypass the switch? I'm going to replace as soon as I can, just because it seems better to it right than to rig it.
Thanks again Sean.

It won't damage the computer, it just affects the way the truck runs. The computer mostly uses this information to adjust the idle because of the drag the clutch has on the engine.

I have attached the new switch and apparently I can't get it on there securely. It seems to be on there good, heard a couple of clicks when snapping it on but, with it hooked up it wont start. Should there be any play at all with the switch on the push rod? It moves a bit but not much. The only thing I can think of is, when I removed the old one a rubber ring came off with it but it was split in two. Did you have anything like that come up?
It does run with the two wires jumped.
Thanks again,
J
