Default Check engine codes

I just ran the tests to retrieve the code for my truck (thanks to Just Call Me Sean and his thread about it!). I got several codes, here they are:

KOEO codes: 539
Continuous codes: 332
Engine running codes: 538, 632

You should know also that I ran the tests again to make sure I had the numbers right and for the KOEO test, the 539 number went away. I did pull the jumper wire out a few times though it was between tests. When The KOEO test was done it gave me three flashes with about 2 seconds in between each flash before it put out the continuous codes.

Please let me know what these codes mean!

Thanks a bunch,
Tony

539 usually means the a/c was on during the test

332 is no EGR movement detected

538 and 632 are both due to input errors during the running test - that's just you, not the truck!

The EGR code could be an old one or intermittent issue that is ok now. It would have come up as a current code if there was an issue.

Well, I guess that would explain why the 539 came up once and not the second time. Though I definitely did not have the A/C on, it's about 12 degrees here right now. I do remember turning everything off, radio, heat and all lights. The EGR makes sense too because the light came on a few weeks ago for a little while but then went back off. My question is though, what were my input errors for the engine running tests? I thought I did everything right...

538 - didn't receive the 'goose' test

632 - transmission control switch should be cycled once between ID and goose test

This sounds like me! I screw something up every time I try to do a KOER test...

That's interesting, Sean's thread didn't mention anything about cycling the trans, he must have a manual!

Thanks anyway, I think I can deal with the results, my trans and throttle seem to be working fine. It's a 351 and it's still fast!

The computer does the tranny tests on its own. Some of those tranny codes like to show up when there are other problems anyways. 632 actually is overdrive cancel switch not changing states. That switch is tested when you step on the brake pedal. You should have gotten the 332 during the engine running test too so that problem probably is intermittent because the computer didn't detect it at that time. If you happened to have the heater on during one of the tests that also turns on the a/c compressor sometimes.

The overdrive cancel switch? That's the one on the end of the shift lever? I know that works because I've used it a couple times. I did step on the brake pedal when instructed to do so but could this still be my input error?

I was thinking of the torque converter unlock switch, that's tested when the brake pedal is pressed. Not sure why the overdrive cancel switch code would come up since it works. I'd clear the codes and check for it again.

Thanks Sean. I was asking if you meant the overdrive switch but I see you meant the torque converter one. I have cleared the codes but I didn't run the tests again. I'll see if I can check it out soon.
