Default Changing ps pump

My pump just started violently shaking and smoking and i took the belt off and i cant even turn it by hand. Its also dripping out the shaft. How do you get those metal pulleys off without bending them so i can take the 3 bolts out with removing the whole friggen bracket assembly.

The whole bracket should come off. One of the bolts is a pain to get to if I remember right, I think it's actually behind the pump and you have to hold the pump to access it. Once off use a pulley remover (loan a tool from auto parts store), place old pulley on new PS pump, new pump on old bracket, re-install.

I thought the same thing but ended up pulling it. It really doesn't take more than a couple extra minutes and a few cuss words. Plus I don't think I could have gotten the pump bolts off inside the engine bay. Needed a breaker bar on the end of my ratchet just to loosen them.

There is a special puller for PS pump pulleys. I would think most chain stores - e.g. AutoZone, O'Reillys, Advanced, etc. - would have them on a free loaner or nominal rental fee basis.

The correct tool makes pulley changeout a snap. One trick to remember is to put the pulley back on far enough so to be in alignment with the belt. On my first go, didn't get it on far enough, and the belt ran one groove off in the pulley, quickly ruining the belt.

The pulley goes all the way on, until the tool bottoms on the shaft.

With a wrench on the puller.
