Default Cash for "clunker" program

Seeing the thread about a truck being totaled got me thinking.

Has anyone seen how many F150s were bought up by the cash for clunkers program?

I know the motors would have been disabled, but I cannot help thinking about all the good interior parts/body panels/other stuff that would be good on those vehicles.

In some generic car magazine they had a list of some of the more unusual vehicles traded in under the program - including something like 150 or so Corvettes.

Guess I am just thinking out loud...

We "disabled" ruined some perfect cars when we did it. We did quite a few F-150s. The toughest longest lasting truck was an 89 F150 I6. It stayed wide open for 15 minutes. 5 of those minutes were after the rad hose popped off. There were some with great interiors and exteriors. A search on Youtube shows some being disabled.

i may have a different mindset on this factor but say you have a corvette that is beat and worth maybe $4000 wouldnt you take $4500?

and dont get me started on mustangs, i bet iff i looked on craiglist right now i could find 10+ for less than $4500

I just watched some of the videos of them killing the cars. if they told me to do this to a ford or any other american car, i would refuse to do it and if they didn't like it, quit.

It was a joke. I am totally against it. (I will be nice) people trading in perfectly good cars for $4500, buying brand new cars for $14,000+, minus the $4500, now they have a payment every month of $300+, yet they will loose that $4500 due to interest, and yes being taxed for earned income on that $4500, sell or trade the car in for a loss, so in the end the person who participated in the program did not really get anything but another car payment they cant afford, and for what a couple of mpg? I bought 3 Fords for 3700, used, I own them, same or better mpg except for my F150, I will spend less or the same as those who bought the new cars, and I saved myself $15,000 or more by not participating

i would kill for one of those trucks.. i would rather have my gas guzzling ford than a little toyota or honda. my wife wants to get rid of the truck to get something like that and i said nope. i told her when she gets a car it's gonna be a ford or at least american
