I feel like that would be a little...sketchy if you bump into anything. Imagine hitting something big enough to compromise the tube, you may get some good shrapnel out front/back. hahahaha
that is 1 of the weirdest things iv ever heard lol, just shy of tennis ***** in the springs.

I dunno I've seen it done a few times... imagine being offroad and needing to pressure up the tires when you get a flat. pop in a repair piece and then air up off the bumper and your on your way home. it's a 4x4 thing I guess... I know I'd never need it with a track ready truck.
you ever tried to fill up a 35" tire with portable 12v compressor? lol hope you got some time on your hands.
and to the OP? whet type of tube are you using? size wise. are you making like a prerunner bumper and filling in with sheet metal?
