and it came to about 300 bucks just in metal.

Amen.

And mine will be flat along the top. Sticking out a good 8". It's going to be a utility bumper. And the stinger will be 2.5" tubing minimum.

i wanted a bumper like that, but since i got my grille guard i kinda moved it down the list, i still want a full bumper replacement because there stronger, i can mount a winch and i can mount tow hooks to it. but like i said, for now im happy with the grille guard i got. a bumper will come after my lift, tires, rear end swap, and an engine overhaul. ontop of some other small stuff i still need to do.

Well started the bumper and it got too dark, but I got a pretty good bit of it done! Now just gotta add some more supports, cover it with either sheet metal or steel diamond plate, and bed liner it! Should have some pictures of it up tomorrow! Looks good and is strong for my first real welding project, holds me and my brother, about 300 pounds and it's only got two supports so far lol, wish me luck!

Simple, tough, usable, and I've been thinking about putting a pipe on there to make into an air tank. Or make a rear bumper out of pipe. Or maybe even a headache rack. But it would probably be to bulky.

But since I live in urban Florida, surrounded by a55holes. What happens if I have someone rear end me?? What does drill pipe at 100 psi do when punctured?? Just let the air escape really fast?? No chance of blowing anything through someone's window is there??
that much air at 100 psi wouldn't be a big deal. Especially bc the giant piece of metal that would be a potential projectile is attached rigidly to your truck, which won't go anywhere. As far as if you had just the pipe "air tank" that leaked / blew up, physics says it wouldn't be a big deal. Conservation of momentum says with your 100+lb bumper there'd be no problems

I just built one, I made it out of 3/16ths steel plate with 3/8ths mounting plates, two 2in recivers (for mounting snow plow in the winter, weight bracket and recovery points in the summer), I have also push a 10-12in tree over with it no problems.
