Default aod transmission problems

i was driveing my truck the other day and a took off from a stop light and i was going fine until it shifted into second when it did a pushed the gas and the motor reved up but it didnt take off like it usually does it just reved up like it was in neutral in it wont shift into third i have to put it to the floor to get it to accelerate at all i dont think the tranny is gone because it still moves. i talked to a couple people and they told me to check the fluid level and it was alittle low so i put more in and took it for a test drive. it is still doing the same thing but dont seem as bad so i took the pan off and replaced the tranny filter i put the pan back on but the back is leaking so ill have to take it off and see if the gasket is junk but if any one knows what is going on with my truck please let me know.

thanks

the aod's have a wiring harness? as far the the gasket, any time you unbolt the pan you should replace the gasket, remember that the bolts dont need to be real tight, use a 1/4" extension with the correct socket tighten them till they seat then use a 1/4" ratchet to tighten them down, again they dont need to be very tight, best to use a torque wrench with the correct torque.

i forgot to add, any transmission problems i have ever had similar to this was caused by low fluid like the ppl you talked to. but then im not a mechanic much less a tranny mechanic.

Unhappy I have the same problem!!!

I ended up stuck last week. I thought it might be the brakes cause my AL brake light was on so I pulled all tires off and the were fine. I emptied and refilled the trans with fresh fluid but still no change. Unlike yours, my truck moves "a little (6 to 8 in)" when I release the clutch but doesn't move at all when I give it gas. It started happenning when I was about 50 miles from home and I had to rev hard all the way (barely making it). I am in desparate need of some advise. I can't afford a shop to look at and screw me out of money (not to mention, I don't trust any one w/ my truck). Can anyone "PLEASE" throw out "ALL" possible problems to look at and take into consideration. I'm a poor man that LOVES his truck. Please Help.

if its manual tranny then its most likely your clutch.

Question

Even if it shifts into gear and moves slightly when the clutch is released?

Dude not even close to being the same problem one's an automatic the others a manual transmission so you really should've started your own thread instead of highjacking 1993's. That being said your's is more than likely going to be a clutch problem as stated.
On to the op yours sounds likes a low fluid or a converter problem.

Aod or e4od wasnt specified, if aod, check detent cable, it might have fallen off the throttle or needs to be adjusted, the mech aod needs that cable to shift properly.
