Default Adding a tach?

In my 95 f150 XLT, it does not have a tachometer in the cluster. How easy would it be to put a new cluster in that has a tach in it?

I'm following this thread now. It's should be as easy a adding an aftermarket tac I think. Lets wait for other input though. I've thought about doing this as well.

I was wanting to put an original instrument cluster back in my truck but one with the tach on it instead of adding an aftermarket one

I know what you're talking about I found one in perfect shape at the yard last week, but I don't know if you would be able to just swap it out or not. I'm not sure if the odometer etc can just be switched over or not.

Hey guys...... use the "search this forum" option at the top right. Adding tachs is Done All The time, but it's certain years for certain years. You'll need to know which tach to purchase to work on your truck.

Is it, I assume, the same generation is swappable? 92-96 to 92-96? And not just any old tac, direct factory replacement. I know it's not my thread but it really is easier to post a new thread with your exact question and have current answers than to search through hundreds of pages until your question is answered.

Well......to each their own, but there is a ton of great info on this site. The search function is fantastic. The tach issues have to do with up to a certain year, you can use a particular stock tach. Then for later models, I believe 95 and 96, you have to use those particular tachs. The problem with asking the same question on a new thread every week is that you are adding to the search results and some with the immediate knowledge get tired of posting the same response every week. We have members on this site who know more than you'd ever learn from a dealer. But again, they do get tired posting sometimes. Take the questions about checking codes on our trucks. It gets asked every week. The answer is in the stickies at the top of the page. These guys put allot of time and effort to build a data base of sorts only for them to get ignored. Just my thoughts.

here are a couple of good threads. As you'll see by using the search function, even the same year clusters can be wired differently. This search took 5 minutes.Thank you to the members who took time to post this great info. Especially the links to step by step swaps and even the videos posted in doing the swaps.

I added a oem tach to my 95. Years that swap are 94 and 95, from a f150,f250 or bronco. The cluster pieces are interchangeable so you can put the old speedo with the new cluster ect. They come apart fairly easy. You can also pop the needles off with a fork and reposition them to read however you want. I chose to move the temp needle more centered for warm operating.

The tach is a nice upgrade that's inexpensive. Good luck. It's all plug and play so no wiring.
