Default 4x2 to 4x4 conversion

I got a 94 ford f150 xlt shortbed with the 5.0l engine and a 4R70W auto tranny *think its that the code is U on the door jam* I just want to know what parts i need to get and change out for the conversion. I'm not buying a new truck. I already dropped 400 in getting the interior fixed and how i want it. Any help will be appreciated.

Search the board. There are several in depth write ups on what you need and how to do it. I'm working on mine as well. In short you need the front suspension and axle assembly, 4x4 transmission and transfer case or rebuild your transmission and add a transfer case, and front and rear drive shafts. Make sure the axle gears match.

Its gonna cost you...and sounds like $400 is a lot of money to you.. better off trading for a 4WD..just saying

I ended up getting the front diff, tranny/transfer case, and rear diff to match the gears in the front diff for $300 bucks. Plus a $20 for the guy that owned the junkyard, helped me pull all the parts. Real nice guy. But honestly, if you have a rust free, straight, good running, low mileage, etc etc 2wd truck, its soooo worth the conversion. So many guys rape the 4wd fords around where I'm at. So most of them are dented up and rusty trucks with oil burning 302s. Plus my truck had everything I wanted, but 4wd. Its hard to find the exact truck you want. Sometimes you have to get creative. Not always about the money for some guys

400 hundred ain't alot. The body of it is in good shape no dents or dings just needs paint. but i can't find one like mine where I love most are toys. but i figured the gear ratio to be 3.55 on the rear axle and I'm the conversion because im fixing the truck i want it just been a hell of a fun and aggravating process but feel great when its done
