460 build

460 build
First off, I know this typically wouldn't be an F150 question, but I figured someone may know, or at least point me in the right direction. Thanks!
Alright so here soon I'm starting a new 460 build in a 250 or 350. I'll be looking to get 400 to 500 hp. I was wanting to go carb setup for simplicity. But I can't seem to find any zf5 carb trucks around here. I've found a few Fi trucks with the zf5 though.
My question is if I went Fi on this build would I still be able to obtain the same hp and tq with around the same amount of money?

Dodge+Ford = always ready
the 460s are a pain to get power out of because of the EFI (mostly because of the MAP really). it can be done, dont get me wrong. but it gets expensive quick. a carb would be your best bet with it, unless you know how to get the wiring harness switched to MAF.
i tried getting more power out of my 460 and after talking to several people i was looking at 2k+ to just hit 350 hp reliably.
all iv really found that helped my EFI 460 was headers, exhaust, timing bump, and port and polish. some say you get get into the 300 hp ball park with those mods but i cant confirm, sure woke the truck up though.

whats the difference? if you want a zf5 truck get one and swap it to carb.... that manual trans wont care either way... you can retain the electric fuel pumps in the tanks and use a By-pass regulator for fuel control. thats how i do it.
Unless you have emissions regulations?

Maybe to many trucks?
A zf5 I believe is a Zf5. Just find a 460 ZF5 if it is fuel injected buy a carb intake and some good heads and such buy a carb slap it on. that's what they tried doing to my brothers 91 F250 4x4 E4OD only to find out that the heads on it wouldn't work (E7TEs) and I don't think the E4OD would have worked either.
If you want horses from a 460 EFI then you will need to have F3TE heads.
For carbs I am not sure I am more of a EFI guy.
I use to have a 93 F250 4x4 460 V8 ZF5 fuel injected making about the 300-350 range with few mods:
voodoo cam (not sure which one but it was a roller cam)
MSD distributor
bored to a 514 or something like that
chiped (bully dog)
true dual thrush with no cats
headers (bassani)
F3TE heads with new valves and such
1 psi higher injectors
electric fans
timing bump
8 MPG if you were towing or not.
Their might be more to it but that's all I had receipts for as I bought the truck like it was. The truck was running 285 75 R16s and had plenty of room for 35s or 37s.
