It seemed like 3GPM but litteraly got 8 MPG. It did have a lot of newer things (air filter, fuel pumps and such) in it so that helped the fuel mileage. I was surprised it got 8 MPG with the 4.10s or 4.30s F450 leaf springs, D60 SAS and more on it. I wish I kept that truck the new owners trashed it (broke the D60 SAS and dropped a D55 TTB under it, smashed up side fenders, replaced the fuel pumps (said they failed which I know isn't true as I have them here working), and more.

Currently my family has 2 460s my brother has a 91 F250 4x4 460 V8 E4OD extended cab long bed 2" lift that needs the engine rebuilt (they left it apart when they tried converting to carb)
and our hauler truck a 89 F350 crew cab long bed 2wd ZF5 flatbed. It runs but needs some parts to run again (fuel pump and brakes.)

Mine was a 77 and it had 300k+ miles on it so it was ready to go.. And it originally had 4.10s but the previous owner swapped a 60 in the rear with 4.56 gears and removed the driveshaft from the transfer case. I assume when the 4x4 quit working. That poor truck went through hell before I got ahold of it. But all the babying In the world couldn't save her then.

The 89 460 we have has 325K and still runs great minus the pumps and such. It also has been through hell.

Lucky dog my dad's 89 F250 351W flatbed 4.30s or 4.10s Zf5 only gets 10-12 maybe 14 on a good day.
Hence why I like the 11 towing, 17 highway, and 14 city I get out of my 02 F250 4x4 crew cab short bed V10 that has more power then a stock 460. (I am not joking either.)

I get that I can put a carb on the truck and be done with the swap. But after all the modifications would the sensors/ computer deal with all that? I'm looking at an 88 250 460 zf5

Why don't you just get the truck swap to carbed if you are worried about the computer get a computer for a 460 manual transmission carbed truck. Carbed computers are a lot like Maf computers they can take a lot before going into full retard state.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. Looks like I won't be getting this truck though, guy decided not to sell. So the search continues

Here is what a 460 can grow up to be.... 600 cubic inches to be exact with 14.4:1 compression for over 900 horsepower LOL

on a serious note....

if you find a Fuel Injected truck and want a carb truck it is easy to do... ECU ONLY governs the engine... to convert to carb you just pull the ECU and harness....

you need a way to activate the fuel pumps so you'll need a trigger. all you have to do is trigger the relay and you have fuel pumps... use and By-Pass fuel regulator and then use a MSD Ready to Run distributor and MSD box.... poof done.............
