Make sure it is straight going in, you can also get a couple of 7\16x3 bolts to use as sliders, also grab the tail of trans roll it around a little , it might go in. Sometimes they need a little finesse.

I had mine back in the same day, then had to take it out again. Got the wrong slave cylinder. So I put mine in twice Saturday. As long as you used the alignment tool then it should go in. Sometimes twisting helps to engage the splined shaft into the clutch disc, but what works for me is pretty much shaking it back in too.

I'm feeling pretty dumb right now. Yes, I had already cut the head off 2 7/16 bolts as sliders and cut a slot to use a screwdriver to remove them later. It was my own invention that was keeping the tranny from going it. My come-a-long was still wrapped around the tranny and when I removed it...... problem solved.

I'm wondering when is it safe to use the tranny bolts to pull it in the rest of the way? ever?

The tranny has to be at least as close as 1/2" before I'll try to thread in a bolt. Then I'll only tighten it until I know it won't come out and check the other side. If I can get a bolt in the other side then I'll pull it together.

Thanks for all your help Sean and others. Just took it for a test drive and it's working better than ever.
