Default 02 sensor extension question

Put headers and a new exhaust in (no cats! hooray for old car smelling exhaust) ad I had to relocate the o2 sensors back about 2 feet. I asked the muffler shop that i got the bends from and they said they just cut and crimp in new wire. I did this, and am now running lean codes. I looked around on this and apparently if you don't put the wires in right you'll get lean codes, which I am getting right now. There are no exhaust leaks around the o2 sensor either.

So the question is this, will these mustang extensions work? They look like they will, but I would like someone else to back me up on this.

I would say if it is a plug and play operation like it is described in the testimonials than go for it. If you need to cut and splice to make it work I would say no. Good Luck!!

look up on rockauto.com if the o2 sensors for your year truck and your year model mustang are the same. that will give you a good clue as to if they are compatible or not.

I would cut the crimps, make sure wires are correct, solder the connections and heat shrink the connections, add a little silicone in the heat shrink to make it water tight, I am sure the length of the lead does not really have anything to do with operation, as long as its not long enough to add more resistance due to length.

I used butt connectors and did the heat shrink thing. Apparently o2 sensors vent exhaust gas out of the wires, and if you block these (as you would with solder) you will throw lean codes. as I have it now, I heat shrunk each joint (6 in total) with a larger heat shrink over those. I probably screwed up somewhere in doing that (the wires are all in the right spot, did them one at a time) so I am just ordering those and then buying a new o2 sensor and going from there.

Once I have this all figured out I'll update the thread, figure someone else might go through this installing headers.

are you using the same gauge wire? That could make a difference. What are the exact codes? Both sensors show lean?

I assume the extentions are for heated o2 sensors. Are your o2's heated?

I'm not using the same gauge wire, I couldn't find a gauge that thin at the parts store so I am using a gauge larger. As for the heated o2 sensor, the plug looked basically the same, just the mustang had an extra pin. First image is f150, second is the Mustang. I figure it doesn't matter, as the entire plug is the same.

Oh, I pulled a 172, HEGO sensor circuit indicates system lean (right side). I only have one sensor.

There is no left side right side. It just means lean.

You stated 2 sensors in first post. Posting yr/engines helps. 3 pin not heated/ 4 pin heated. No other codes?

Its a 91 302. No other codes. They will work, it shouldn't make a difference if theres a wire there for pin #4 or not, as long as the other 3 are connected through. The extensions should be here in 2-10 days along with ignition upgrade stuff. Trucks coming together now.
