Default Rear Speakers?

Hey everyone I have a question. I have a 1991 f150 single cab, and I noticed there is no rear speakers. But the factory wiring harness has wires pre wired for rear speakers... why? I've heard rumors the holes for 5x7 speakers in a 1992 and up F150 exists in the 1991's, is this true? If so it would be behind the plastic behind the seatbelt on each side. I don't want to tear it apart unless I have to, so I was hoping maybe someone here knew if these holes existed or not. Thanks.

My 92 has speaker grills built in to the plastic just below the seatbelts. The plastic grill can be removed easily, from the surrounding plastic, with 4 phillips screws. The speakers are mounted to the grills from behind, so when I remove the grill, the speaker comes with it. They aren't mounted to sheet metal like the door speakers are.

I presume you don't have rear speaker grills? Maybe you need to pull the plastic panel and check for factory wires. If they are present, maybe you could replace the panels with some from a later model (or whatever model was equipped with rear speakers. Another option would be cutting into your panels and using aftermarket speakers grills.

Let us know how it turns out! I've been tinkering with my setup, as well.

There are holes there on all the trucks, they just aren't speaker shaped.

Have to wade through a bit but your answers are here with more detail

Short answer is there are holes however you cannot use the 92 up panelsand the 5 X7 Speakers for a couple of reasons.....

The speakers can be wired into the factory radio plug, theres 4 empty slots, pry it open and use a wiring harness adapter diagram to figure out which ones go where. no splicing in factory wiring needed. did this last year in my 89.
