Default Tune-up.

I am new to working on things myself. Is a tune-up really as easy as pulling all the plugs and replacing them with new ones? Anything I should look out for?

If your wanting to just replace plugs and wires then yes. Hardest part is making sure you go slow and replace one at a time so you don't mix anything up.

Wires, cap and rotor, plugs, pvc, air filter, change oil,o2 sensor, timing, measure engine vac, pull codes. But don`t stop there, change fuel filter, lube the front end and u joints, check or change all fluids. Check brakes, repack bearings and the list goes on. A lot of people wait to long to do all this or wait in tell it is broke or does not run right before it is done. I bet the dif and trans fluid has never been changed. When I got my 91 I did most of this and as I was doing it I found more things that needed to be done. The truck didn`t run right when I got it and got it really cheap. I even had to take the cover off the drivers seat and reweld the back rest. My back fuel pump even started to work after cleaning the ground connection under the truck and is still working today. As these trucks get older and get miles on them they need more maintenance. And you thought you were just going to get away with just changing the plugs. LOL

Seafoam will do wonders depending on the condition of the engine.
