M5OD shift pin joy!!!
So, I'm on my 3rd set in 2 years and the last set lasted an entire 8 months. I do 80% of my driving in the city and I don't wail on it as I know it's a weakish tranny already. My last fix consisted of pulling the top cover and having the pin mounts refilled and redrilled due to being blown out and the pins flopping around. this was to no avail as I'm now back where i started...again! The pins seem to be made of really soft metal, definitely not the same as OEM from 1990..they lasted 20 years. I have it rigged temporarily with 2 bolts I took off a tailgate cable...(lol it works)! and a big *** hoseclamp to hold then tight but it is a ridiculous fix and I could use a better solution.
I know that the Hurst shifter for these trucks has adjustment points so I was wondering if it bypasses the stupid oem pins and just mounts to the 3 bolts on the the shifter neck and if that would be a simple fix, albeit a very pricey one at $255...
at first it was just the driver side pin, now it is both so I'm looking for a new top plate but that seems like about the same effort for something that I will have to do again...
Any suggestions from you 3 pedal guys?
