Default EFI to Carb electronics conversion question

Good morning all,
I know I’ll catch quite a bit of flak for this but I got questions anyway. I’ve got a 91 F150 5.0 e4od. As the title says I’m converting it to a carb. The truck is not a daily which is why I’m going this route. I’ve got everything to convert the fuel system to a carb. and distributor to a stand alone MSD magnetic pickup with mechanical advance set up and all my gauges will be going analog. I will be getting a U.S. shift trans controller and new torque converter once I get back from my deployment. My question is, without the ECU, what electronics will not work? I’m ultimately trying to remove it completely. Will the factory ignition still run the starter? I’m assuming all the lights should still work on their own. I’m trying to keep the rewiring to a minimum. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Daily or not - if you do this, it will be illegal to drive on any public road or land; even in places that don't inspect or enforce those laws right now. Laws regarding gasoline vehicles are changing rapidly all over the world, so don't think they'll never change where you drive. And when they do, it'll be a LOT more expensive to make the truck legal again than to simply maintain & repair it now.

Also...
This idea makes about as much sense as converting it to run solid-rubber tires, or a 6V electrical system. Carbs suck - EFI is vastly better, at everything.

Yes you’ve told me nothing I don’t already know. Thanks for your 2 cents and not remotely trying to answer the question. If I was asking a question about doing it and what the state laws are then you’d be my go to person.

we did this on my grandson's truck. everything still worked that we needed. fuel injection on that truck was junk so it went into the garbage where it needed to be. that answer from steve is the only answer i ever got from him too.

Yes, you should be fine to covert. If you want a gas mizer carb, Edelbrock. A better one to tune, Holley, IMHO

we used a 600 holley and a big cap hei. if i go with another hei, i will build a small cap distributor for it just doesn't look right with that big red cap.

by the way, thank you for your service.

agree, small cap MSD with 6AL box would be perfect.

The EFI on mine is junk as well. Truck runs like garbage no matter what I do because sensors today are cheap trash and I spend more money trying to get one good sensor after buying three or four which is why I decided to go this route. If the truck ran fine and I was doing this just to do it, then his response would’ve been warranted.

originally I was going with the Edelbrock AVS2 500cfm but they were out of stock everywhere so in the end I went with the Holley 4160 600cfm. I haven’t decided but possibly when I finish the truck I’m debating on taking it to a dyno to have it tuned for best drive ability and fuel economy because like you stated, Holley is better for tuning and I completely agree with that.

I went with the Holley 4160 600cfm. Is small cap vs big cap in reference to the diameter? Never heard anyone talk about this when it comes to distributors so I’m just curious. I went with a summit magnetic pickup mechanical advance for this “build” if you want to call it that lol.

Also you’re welcome and thank you I really appreciate that.
