Default Upper Ball Joint

So finally banged away hard enough to get the spindle off so I can replace my ball joints.Problem is that the upper ball joint stayed in the axle and the rest of the spindle came off with the lower onlyNot really sure what to do here.I have heated, banged, hammered etc and that ball joint just doesn’t want to budge from the axle housing
any ideas would be appreciated.Should I try drilling it out?

It will come out
Try some heat from a shop torch
Drilling will be futile. the ball is pretty hard steel
Keep banging on it, use a bigger hammer
Cherry red is your friend when you find a torch

You will need an oxy acetylene rig

Do you think the yellow benzomatic would work.I see that it’s hotter than normal propane
Just that a Oxy-Acetylene rig is a few bucks more than what I want to spend for a maybe one time use

Mapp gas does get hotter and you should try it
The BFH is what is going to do it in the end anyway, the heat just helps a bunch
If you were to get it cherry red one time with an oxy acetylene rig it would just about fall out
I fight Dodge Ram ball joints at times in the same fashion
Dam ignorant
They make some miracle stuff called cold shot
You heat those top washer portions and hit that ball with cold shot then try pounding it out with the biggest hammer you can swing effectively

Looks like the camber cam is still in there
Get that out first with an air hammer and a chisel bit
That is most of your problem I just noticed

He’s it is.I have tried to get that out as well and have made a mess of it.That’s going to need a new one for sure
Do I attack that from the top or below where the remnant ball is
i will try the benzomatic first before I decide what to do with oxy acetylene.
Will go at that camber first but man that thing looks like it’s welded on

barring all that I have a garage mechanic down the street and will see if he can wheel over his oxy acetylene setup and pay him a couple hundred bucks

Now that you have that knuckle out of the way ask him if he has a 2 jaw puller to use first
Use the heat and some penetrant on that camber cam
It and the ball will separate eventually.
