Default Proportioning valve

I have a 88 F-150 5.0 (302), and it looks like my proportioning valve is leaking. Does anyone know what year models are interchangeable with the 88 model, this part is difficult to find.

Please Help, going through brake fluid and worried about safety.

The proportioning valve is the little fitting screwed to the master cylinder. That is what you're talking about, right? Any year that has one that looks like it, definitely '87-'96 but older might have it. Not much older though.

It is mounted to the frame on the driver side. It has all 4 brake lines screwed into it. It's a little box looking thing. I believe it's the proportioning valve. I will add a photo here shortly.

Thank you for the reply and information.

That's the ABS valve. It should only have 2 lines.

This is the ABS valve? I was told proportioning valve. Are they easy to find at auto part stores or would this be a dealer only item?

Also, when bleeding, where would this come into play in the sequence?

Thank you so much for all your help on this. I had other post with inquiries that have gone unanswered.

Yes that is the ABS valve. Best place to find one, junkyard. Bleeding goes furthest to closest, so after the rears but I don't usually bleed it because it usually doesn't need bleeding. It pretty much bleeds with the rears. The ABS sucks on these trucks, it's mostly there for decoration. Some have just eliminated it.

So instead of replacing just run a brake line from the master cylinder to the rears? Autozone carries a reman for $120. Is pretty simple to run brake line or does it call for lots of cussing and complaining? Not suitable for small children or anyone under the age of 18....Bwaaahahahaa

I didn't know AutoZone has them, cool. I have never felt the ABS work on my truck, others have said the same. Just get a union and a length of line long enough to reach the master. Excess is coiled up but you can't kink it. They have various lengths to get it pretty close.
