abs light
my 93 has been having brake issues. sometimes it acts normal but other times the brakes become extremely progressive to the point of locking the rears up before it even acts like its slowing down. now my abs light is on. am I right to think the hydraulic assembly on the frame is to blame?

You can pull the ABS codes yourself. On the passenger side under the dash is the RABS module. You will find a connector there with an orange/black wire connected to another wire (I forget the color, I think red.)

Anyways to get the codes, have the key in the ON position and unhook that connector. Attach a jumper wire from the orange/black wire to the frame and the ABS light will flash to give you code readout.
Read the flashes to get the fault code. You will see some short flashes and a long flash. For example 3 short flashes and 1 long flash is code 4.

Thanks for the help. will try getting codes next time the light comes on. What exactly does that valve do? Ive heard it acts as the proportioning valve? I know it is how pressure is reduced for anti lock but Ive heard that it goes to default braking when abs has a problem? does it just have a preset valving to reduce rear pressure like a proportioning valve under normal conditions?

The valve just prevents the rear brakes from locking up, and yes when there is a fault the abs light goes on and its disabled. I forgot to mention you have to do this when the light is on, cause i don't believe they keep memory for abs codes when the power is off, so you would have to keep it running.
