get the exhaust manifolds off an efi 300, just as good as headers and a 10th the price. other than spending 400-600 on a new intake/carb, theres been a number of people that have ground down the stock intake in order to fit a 2bbl carb, and filled any gaps with that putty/metal compound. after that, pricing continues to increase, get a head off of an old 240 inline six which will increase compression ratio and power output. and last would be a performance camshaft. and i read once about a guy who put a turbo on his (completely custom job)
Stupid question, Is the only difference between the 240 and the 300cc engines the size of the combustion chamber? I was looking at some aftermarket stuff from ford six.com and was not sure if the bolt pattern was the same?

ya, heads bolt on exactly the same, the difference between the 240 and the 300 was the length of travel in the piston, the 240 pulled less fuel in so it needed a tighter head to keep compression up

New to the F150 world
Any idea what the compression ratio would be on my stock '92 4.9 if I dropped a 240 head on it? Anyone know how much lift & duration the stock 4.9 can handle without needing valve reliefs in the pistons? How about with the 240 head? Thank you in advance!
