Stupid question, Is the only difference between the 240 and the 300cc engines the size of the combustion chamber? I was looking at some aftermarket stuff from ford six.com and was not sure if the bolt pattern was the same?

Best bang for the buck "in my opinion" would be a gear (rear end) change. I would go with 3.73 or even 4.10's

The only thing i see that bad about that is when i get on the highway my fuel economy would suffer . In the city it would be great

ya, heads bolt on exactly the same, the difference between the 240 and the 300 was the length of travel in the piston, the 240 pulled less fuel in so it needed a tighter head to keep compression up

You need bigger displacement or a bigger wallet- Not that an engine swap is anything like inexpensive.

displacement isnt the problem on a 4.9. head flow is. the fuel injected 4.9 already has shorty headers stock.

Any idea what the compression ratio would be on my stock '92 4.9 if I dropped a 240 head on it? Anyone know how much lift & duration the stock 4.9 can handle without needing valve reliefs in the pistons? How about with the 240 head? Thank you in advance!
